Cyber Monday Fulfillment Picks Up

With millions of Americans stuffing their online shopping carts this Cyber Monday, regional/national fulfillment centers that service catalogers and literature providers are getting very busy with order fulfillment.

Kathy Beck, a spokesperson at The MAIL Group, an Indiana based fulfillment center and software development company said,”We staff up for the holidays; bringing in a lot of people to meet the seasonal demands.”

It is important to note that Cyber Monday involves four to eight weeks of servicing clients’ fulfillment requests. “What is also exciting is we have offered many of our part-timers full time employment in the past” said Kathy, “and we know this will happen again this year.”

It becomes obvious at the Lafayette fulfillment center why The Mail Group workforce is needed. This fascinating facility is filled with busy forklift operators moving pallets from the warehouse into the sorting and commingling sections. Next the assembly staff setup and monitor the assembly/merging of all the unique fulfillment items into a wide variety of shipping packages.

This nonstop process from assembling requested items to tracking USPS movement is what makes the fulfillment industry so critical during this time of the year. Fulfillment requests are processed and then sorted into bar-coded bins before making their way from the facility to a customer’s home.

“The MAIL Group is doing more than just processing orders,” Kathy said, “we are helping merchants reduce mail center and shipping costs, thus freeing them to focus on their core business.
